About

Made by a dad, for his own kids.

Stoic Sprout didn't start as a product. It started as a bedtime.

I'm a dad in Melbourne. Like every parent, I wanted something calm and wholesome for the end of the day: stories that meant something, without ads, and without the loud, engineered-to-keep-them-hooked feeling of so many children's apps.

What I kept coming back to was old philosophy, the Stoics mostly. What Seneca and Marcus Aurelius wrote about disappointment and anger, and about letting go of what you can't control, was the same stuff my kids were wrestling with over spilt drinks and rained-off plans. The ideas were genuinely useful. They just needed telling gently, in a way a small person could hold.

So I started making them. Real sources, adapted honestly for young ears, narrated softly, ending on a calming phrase worth keeping. My own kids were the first audience, and the toughest. Stoic Sprout is what that became.

What I care about

  • Calm over engagement. No streaks, no points, none of the tricks that keep kids scrolling. If it helps a child settle and then it's over, the app did its job.
  • Real sources. Every story traces to a genuine passage, and we name it. No made-up wisdom dressed up as ancient.
  • Privacy as a promise. A child's voice and journal stay on your device, never our servers. We don't run ads or trackers, and we don't sell anyone's data.
  • Honest about what it is. It builds calm and character. It's not therapy or medical advice, and I'll never pretend otherwise.

Part of Seven Stack

Stoic Sprout is made by Seven Stack, a small studio building software with care. It's the first thing we've offered to families beyond our own, which is exactly why the bar is where it is.

Spotted a bug, or got a story you'd love your child to hear? I read everything. Email me at [email protected], or reach me from inside the app. There's a support page too.
